To all of you who think New Mexico is all desert ...

... think again! ;-)
The Jemez mountains are covered in ponderosa pines and rivers like Rio Puerco give rise to the beautiful waterfalls we scouted with some photographer friends this past week-end. Enjoy!

  1. Wow, these photos are breathtaking! Love how ethereal those waterfalls look. And as someone who's always lived in the southwest, it doesn't surprise me one bit that New Mexico isn't all desert... :)

    1. thank you Heather! it's funny, but I keep seeing it everywhere in the media; when they talk about the lab, they always call it "the lab in the desert" and it makes me cringe. Helloooo??? We got trees!! And that's why they burn from time to time (sadly).

  2. Beautiful!
New Mexico is high desert, which means a lot of mountains and trees.

  3. Beautiful. When I was a teenager I spent a week at a camp in Glorieta New Mexico. It was really nice. The contrast in landscapes has always interested me.

    1. I know the place! My kids have gone there on field trips. Though that part of NM I would definitely call desertic ;-)
