Time for a chimera contest!

I've participated to so many blog contests in the past years, I figure it's time to give back and hold a contest of my own. So -- insert drum roll here -- I'm giving away the above image, printed on canvas and mounted on a 11x16 frame, to one lucky winner.

Here's how to participate:
1. If you haven't already, please "like" the Chimeras FB page.
2. Leave a comment either here on the blog or on the FB page -- tell me what it is you like about this blog. Suggestions are very welcome!
3. Not mandatory, but if you invite your friends to "like" the page I'll count your entry twice (let me know in the comments). I know, sorry, trying to pull some audience my way...

That's it! One week from now I will draw one lucky winner. If you're selected, I'll ask you for a shipping address so I can send you the canvas.

Shares are not mandatory but highly appreciated. The more the merrier. :-)

  1. I would love to enter the contest, but I don't do FB :(
I will pass this around though :)
What I love about this blog is the fact that you explain science in terms that anyone can relate to!

  2. A couple of months ago, I "unliked" everything and deleted all my photos on Facebook. I even changed my profile photo to one of me when I was four years old. So I'll beg your pardon for not "liking" Chimeras on FB, though I do like it very much right here.
The main reason I come here is that you write so clearly about things in which I have no experience, academic or otherwise. I always learn something new. I may not leave with complete understanding, but I do learn! Really, Elena, I hope you'll consider teaching some day.

    1. I don't have the patience to teach, but I was a science writer for a while, I did it as freelance and had lots of fun with it. Unfortunately most of the science articles I see on popular magazines are written for the punch line by people who don't really understand the science. Blogging has given a voice to scientists to discuss the real science, which has been wonderful.

  3. ok, I liked Chimeras on FB as did a close friend ... Master Sparky. Actually, I cheated ... he's my dog ;-)
Your posts are so interesting to me because I'm excited about all the new knowledge in genetics. I have enough background to understand (usually) but this is not an area I'm involved in anymore. So it's great to get reports "from the field" best wishes!
